PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

Course objective
Formation of holistic knowledge and practical skills in the use of virtual reality (VR) as a tool for psychocorrection of phobic disorders and the development of mindfulness competencies among psychological practice specialists.
The course aims to integrate the latest technologies into psychological care, taking into account ethical, neuropsychological, and clinical aspects.
Mastering theoretical knowledge and practical skills in using VR technologies as a tool for psychological assistance with phobic disorders, increasing the effectiveness of working with anxiety, and developing mindfulness competencies in clients.
SCIENTIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE:
Scientific description of the course
The course "VR: Using Virtual Reality in Psychology - Phobic Disorders and a Mindfulness Approach" is an interdisciplinary advanced training program that combines knowledge from cognitive, clinical, and technological psychology.
Particular attention is paid to working with phobias as manifestations of anxiety disorders through exposure VR protocols, as well as to implementing mindfulness practices in a virtual environment to reduce psychoemotional stress and regulate affective states.
The program covers neurophysiological mechanisms of fear, principles of building a safe VR experience, criteria for assessing the effectiveness of psychocorrection, and features of adapting VR practices to different categories of clients.
After completing the course, students will gain the competencies necessary to implement VR in counseling, psychotherapy, psychoprophylaxis, and psychoeducation, taking into account modern ethical and evidence-based standards.
COURSE FORMAT:
Course format
Total volume: 30 academic hours 1.0 ECTS
Mode of study: full-time / online (depending on enrollment)
Structure:
· 20 hours — theoretical and interactive lectures (Zoom/auditorium)
· 8 hours — practical classes (working with VR scenarios, cases, simulations)
· 2 hours — final certification work or presentation of your own case.
Material submission formats:
· Lecture blocks with presentations
· Group workshops with VR scenarios (social anxiety, confined spaces, mindfulness spaces)
· Video instructions demonstrating VR interventions
Required equipment (for the practical part):
· Oculus Meta Quest VR headset (2,3,3s)
· Platforms with therapeutic VR applications
· PC
After completing the training, the participant receives:
· Certificate (30 academic hours)
· Access to a closed archive of course materials (3 months)
COURSE CONTENT
Course content
Module 1: Introduction to VR in Psychology (1 hour)

Module 2. Neuropsychological and somatic mechanisms of phobic reaction

Neurophysiology of fear: involvement of the amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and autonomic system

Somatic markers of phobias and their integration into bodily experience

Biofeedback as a basis for integrative therapy
Module 2. Psychological theories and methods for correcting phobias (4 hours)

Cognitive-behavioral model of the emergence and overcoming of phobias

Principles of exposure therapy (in vivo / in virtuo)

Psychodynamic interpretations of phobias: defense mechanisms, traumatic core

Body-centered approach: somatic awareness as a resource for regulation
Module 3. VR approach in the development of mindfulness competencies (4 hours)

Psychophysiological effects of mindfulness in a VR environment

Breathing practices, body scanning, visualizations in a virtual context

Increasing emotional self-regulation through immersion in calm scenes
Module 4. Technical implementation of VR in the practice of a psychologist (4 hours)

Algorithm for preparing a client for a VR session: stages of adaptation, checking contraindications

Stabilization methods after VR experience: grounding techniques, somatic return, bodily integration
Module 5. Practical block: simulation of VR sessions (4 hours)

Conducting VR sessions in small groups (in virtuo training)

Observation and supervision: analysis of management style, emotional background, client reactions

Feedback collection and professional self-analysis
Module 6. Final certification and implementation in professional activities (5 hours)

Presentation of a developed VR case or individual implementation plan in your own practice

Group reflection and discussion on the possibilities of integrating VR into clinical, educational or consulting activities

Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of advanced training from the Natalia Sablina Training Centre. The course fee includes a certificate in Ukrainian. If you wish, you can order a certificate in English for an additional fee.
Our documents (certificates, certificates, etc.) can be counted as advanced training, as they fully comply with the requirements of paragraph 13 of the Procedure for advanced training of pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical workers, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 800 of 21.08.2019, and entered into force on 03 September 2019.
CERTIFICATION CONDITIONS: participation in all modules and workshops, completion of homework in full, development and defence of a certification paper.
